What a great day! With Coen and his parents Jodi and Kyle, we headed out to the Big Al site for the day. We made a lot of progress in the site, jacketing four different bones in the site. Coen was a great jacketer! We then flipped one of the bones from yesterday. It was a success and the jacket looks pretty sturdy! Some minor prospecting was done around our site as well. It was a great morning! It is 103 degrees out right now as I type, getting back to the normal August heat of Montana!

What a great day for digging! Our crew was joined by the Lyle family from Virginia and we spent the day in the Big Al site. A lot of digging was done and two new bone chunks were found while preparing two of our previously known bones for jacketing! 13 year old Courtland helped me jacket the first two bones (of many) that we will jacket before the end of the season. Courtland did a great job in jacketing and was an experienced digger! The jackets had not yet dried, so we haven't flipped and removed them yet. We took the Lyle's into the museum that evening. We had a blast with them! Later on in the evening, longtime student Kristen and her friends Tim and Emily (from Bozeman, MT) joined our crew! We also met our Wishing Star crew for dinner: 5 year old dinosaur hunter Coen and his parents Jodie and Kyle arrived from Spokane. We are very excited for them to be here! Thank you to Deb's Drive-In for a donating stupendous dinner! Also a special thanks to the Garfield Hotel for donating the lodging and Thrifty Car Rental / Lewis Transportation Group LLC for providing Coen and his family with transportation. We are very excited for tomorrow!!!

Today was another fantastic day! We headed this morning to the 'hadrosaur' site to dig. This site has not yet been given a name, so we decided to call it the Coen Site. The morning was fairly cloudy, which made for great digging weather and got hot as lunch time approached. We found a tiny new bone chunk and a really nice hadrosaur tooth in the site, and continued to move a lot of rock. We came back to the Lervick homestead for lunch and sat for a while talking dinosaurs. In the afternoon, everybody took a nap and geared up for a great evening. Judy, Coen and I prepared some water balloons for a possible battle then Coen saved some butterflies. Dinner was an amazing steak dinner prepared by the amazing Lervick cooks and after Coen and the crew helped Emma fed the baby calves. After group pictures and talk over the incoming rain storm, we said our goodbyes.
I think I can speak for the crew when I say we had an amazing time with Coen, Kyle, and Jodi. We are proud that Wishing Star chose us to host this wonderful family. Thank you again to Wishing Star for sending us Coen and his family. What a great time we all had!
